Objectives

Core of the project ProSkills is the partnership’s exchange and the creation of a common framework-model related to the application of creative and active teaching/training methods, based on the arts and the art-therapy (music, painting, movies, drama…), with the aim to develop in the socially disadvantaged people a creative mind, proactive attitudes and behaviour, ability of learning to learn and to self-develop themselves. This means promoting in the target group autonomy, initiative spirit, creativity, capacity of innovation and self-improvement, problem solving.

As a consequence to this empowerment, the learners can improve the quality of their private and professional life, enrich their relations on different dimensions, increase the level of social participation and civil engagement. This is achieved by increasing the key and soft skills that can foster opportunities of starting again to study, finding a job, or ameliorating the work status of these people, that very often are in a situation of social exclusion because of their disadvantaged condition.

With this kind of project, we also intend to spread among socially disadvantaged adults the culture of life-long training and of learning foreign languages as a channel to overcome cultural and racial barriers and to communicate with people from other countries, face-to-face or using the web technologies.

Last but not least, by means of educational events based on the arts and non-formal structure we expect to arise and reinforce the motivation of learners to participate in the learning process and their commitment in the educational activities.

As to the training staff, the project will improve the qualification of the course designers, the trainers and the tutors that work with socially disadvantaged people, so to have professionals that are more prepared to face life problems and consequent education difficulties proper of the target group. The staff will learn new methods and techniques to deal with the target group, taking into account also the different typologies of disadvantage and the specific conditions in which each partner organisation is called to work. This training the trainers will allow to develop the competences and teaching methods that each partner has got and to acquire new of them to offer a more qualified and effective training service for its learners. Another main objective for the staff is the improvement of their competence in managing and promoting events of non-formal and informal learning.

A further aim is the exchange, with the other partners, of experiences, programmes and methods already applied in each adult education centre for the personal development of socially disadvantaged people.
